Brett is a Climate Resilience Planner for the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. Through Máya Wapána: the Ioway Climate Resilience Program, Brett works with others to establish baseline surveys and inventories of trees, birds, soils, insects, and plants in Iowa Tribal National Park, land that was returned to the Tribe in 2020. Máya Wapána is also co-designing a land stewardship and agroforestry plan with an emphasis on oak savanna, prairie restoration, and food sovereignty for the Tribe. He also leads the “Restorying Regenerative Agriculture” program with Regenerative Ag Foundation – a participatory granting program for Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color engaged in food and farm work.
